In November of 2002, The Mountain Goats toured the United States in support of their then-recent album Tallahassee. The tour took place in the American East, going as far west as Norman, Oklahoma. The touring lineup was John Darnielle on vocals and acoustic guitar, and Peter Hughes on bass.
John Vanderslice was the opening act for all shows, and The Baptist Generals were the opening acts for all shows except for the Greensboro, Omaha, and Grinnell shows. Need New Body and Fizzle Like a Flood were second opening acts for Greensboro and Omaha, respectively.
