Lyrics[]
Break into shining storefronts up and down the avenue Do six months for burglary, get a fresh tattoo Dad buys a PA system, I invite some friends around Just some guys I know from town All the normal things to do down here just bore me What is this I see before me Take a job up at the slaughterhouse, hammer in hand Happy on the weekends singing with my band And then one day we’re bound for Denmark One change of clothes in tow So let’s go When the spirit moves within you, how can you resist the call I love you all
Comments by John Darnielle About this Song[]
- "There are so many alternate-universe versions of the Mountain Goats in my mind, so many imagined pasts instead of the one herein chronicled. Given that 'Marsh Witch Vision' wasn't written until 2014 or released until 2017, it would be impossible for a person to say, of the Mountain Goats: 'Oh, yeah---weird band. They just wrote songs about Ozzy. Strictly and exclusively Ozzy unless the guy writes a song about Bill Ward, or about Tony Iommi's missing fingertip or something. One song is about how Ozzy's dad bought him a PA to keep him from getting into more trouble and then it just goes on from there for thirty years, single theme. Just Ozzy.'" -- This Year (2025)
