In March and April of 2005, The Mountain Goats toured America. The shows on this tour were concentrated near the Central United States, going as far west as Lubbock, Texas and as far east as Beloit, Wisconsin. The touring lineup was John Darnielle on vocals and guitar, and Peter Hughes on bass.
The Prayers and Tears of Arthur Digby Sellers was the opening act for all shows except for Austin, Houston, and Denton, where the opening acts were Crystal Skulls and Black Mountain for all three shows. Burn the Wagon, Kyle Harvey, Dietrich Gosser, Les Chouettes, and Woods Afire were second opening acts for the Lubbock, Omaha, Madison, Memphis, and Fayetteville shows, respectively.
