On August 5, 2015, The Mountain Goats announced their By, For, and About the Trees Southeastern Fall Tour 2015 in support of their most recent album, Beat The Champ. The tour is of the Southeastern United States, with shows in Tennessee, North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. The touring lineup was the same as the first tour promoting Beat the Champ: John Darnielle on acoustic guitar, piano, and vocals, Peter Hughes on bass guitar and backing vocals, Jon Wurster on drums, and Matt Douglas on clarinet, piano, second guitar, and saxophone.
Blank Range was the opening act for every show on the tour except for Charlotte, where H.C. McEntire of Mount Moriah was the opener.
