Beat The Champ is the 15th studio album by the Mountain Goats. The album focuses mainly on professional wrestling, although some of the songs, by John Darnielle's own admission, "are really more about death and difficult-to-navigate interior spaces than wrestling"[1].

The song "Blood Capsules" was recorded the last night of tracking (featuring "disco wahwah guitar" by Peter Hughes[2]), and it was decided that it didn't fit with the whole album. The B-side is a dub remix of the song by Scott Solter.
